When I first began my quest to lose weight for good I spent hours scouring the internet looking for that one secret trick that would make the weight fall off effortlessly while I continued to eat the things I loved. Strangely enough I never found the Eat all the Pizza and Krispy Kreme You Want And Still Lose Weight Diet. I read blog after blog of other people’s success stories and darn if they all weren’t eating healthy food and exercising. What the hell!? Why wasn’t there a magic pill?
It was time to accept the fact that, deep down , I think we’ve all known all along. To really be healthy and look go halfway decent in our skinny jeans means putting healthy things into our bodies. I mean who really, deep down believes that if they eat fast food on the regular they’re going to be rocking that bikini at the beach? Sure there was plenty I could still learn about different food groups and their effects on the body, but basic common sense told me that fresh vegetables had to be better for me than a cheeseburger. Sad but true.
There are a lot of differing opinions on which way of eating is the best for you (and I think over the years I’ve tried them all), be they Vegetarian, Vegan, Paleo, Atkins, etc., but they all do have one thing in common. Eat your veggies! Just like mom used to say. Eat real food, not the frankenfood with a list of ingredients you can barely pronounce. And drink water! See, common sense, right! Deep down you knew that that if you ate like that you’d feel better and most likely look better too didn’t you! You’re so smart!
The closer you are to food in it’s original state the better. Think about all the chemicals created in laboratories that are added to processed food. Who really thinks putting that in their bodies can be good for them? Sure they taste good, and you know why? Because they were scientifically engineered to do so! A scientist made sure you weren’t going to stop after you popped. You could spend days online reading about all the chemicals in your food. Some of the ones Americans eat regularly are banned in other countries because they’ve been determined to be too dangerous! Google that one! Chemicals are added to food to make it look better, taste better and last longer. Don’t believe me? Buy a McDonald’s hamburger and keep that sucker around for a few weeks, or months, or years. Or save yourself the money and just Google the 12 year old McDonald’s burger. Freaky!! All you have to do is look at that and common sense tells you, that ain’t right! I don’t want my food to outlive me!
Time to accept the facts. There is no diet secret. You will have to eat healthy food to lose weight. You will actually feel better when you do. Donuts are never going to be good for you. Salad is your friend.
So what’s the weight loss answer?
1. Eat real food in it’s original state.
2. Drink plenty of water.
But you already knew that.
